Day One Hundred & Forty-three: 4/25/2023
For anyone reading my blog, I thought I should reintroduce myself and The Teal Fairy. My pen name is Craig R. Patrick. I’ve been writing as much as I can for the last six years. It all started with an idea, a short story and a dream. I’ve self-published two parts of my book series: Magick Caste Archive. I started working on Part Three when my life blew apart. I had to switch gears and found that I needed to work on a collection of short stories for the world building aspect. I'm working as a custodian fulltime and I spend the remaining hours working on stories that will fuel the fires of my endeavors. The Teal Fairy Fables will be released to the public in September of this year.
As I’ve been writing these stories that were collected and transcribed by The Teal Fairy, I thought I should resemble the character as well. I can’t necessarily look exactly how The Teal Fairy presents themselves, but I can come pretty close. I even refer to myself as The Teal Fairy when I’m made up in the makeup, hairdo, and clothes.
I use the identity of The Teal Fairy to deal with all of the pain and grief that I suffered in 2021 and 2022. I’m also developing a book idea, The Teal Fairy Goes Back To School. It will be a graphic novel that has The Teal Fairy dealing with common issues of working at a school while tutoring burgeoning magical creatures; witches, warlocks, alchemists, syrens, and maybe a goblin. I’m documenting the whole process so I’ll have content to review at a later date.
I appreciate you taking the time to review my words.
Day One Hundred & Forty-four: 4/26/2023
I have one big fear, well, my biggest fear is being shot at the job. Though, in this day and age I believe that we should all be vigilant because there are far too many nuttjobs with guns these days. I’m very fearful that I’m going to catch underage youths partaking in their carnal desires. Literally, I ensure that every room is locked so that I don’t catch a couple copulating.
Well, I found out that there was a couple that was caught not that long ago. Before the students were released for the Spring Break holiday. The director of the choir caught two students in the sheet music storage room. He turned on the lights and his glare was met with the set of eyes belonging to a very young man. As the instructor entered the space, he got more of a glimpse of the situation. The boy was pulling his pants back up, while the girl was still laying on the ground. He stated that he didn’t see anything explicit, but everything was definitely implied. He led them quietly to the administration’s office to be reprimanded for their deeds. Interesting fact, this was the second time that he’d caught a couple copulating. The first time was when he was twenty-four years old, his first year teaching. So, I will say at least it wasn’t a yearly occurrence.
I’m absolutely terrified of running into this situation. Today, something almost happened. I was sweeping the middle school hallway, and I noticed there were a few voices coming from the eighth grade boy’s bathroom. It’s not like there can’t be conversations in the stalls, but school had let out and there was no reason for multiple people to be sharing a unit in the toilet. I lingered a minute or two to discern what was occurring. I really didn’t want to get involved, so I continued doing my tasks. I kept an eye and an ear open to anything nefarious occurring. Well, they were still in there after I made a full round up and down the hallway. Something was going on.
It needed to be addressed.
I wasn’t going to walk in there and it wasn’t my job to be the hall monitor. I called for security to check on the situation. My dear friend, Keith is all too happy to crack a few skulls (figuratively). He broke up the situation. A very young man and a young woman were both in the stall and when I came back around I got a glimpse of who they were. Not surprised, but I’ll have to keep a firmer eye on their whereabouts when I’m performing my duties.
Day One Hundred & Forty-five: 4/27/2023
I’m going to get rained on while I travel home tonight. I’m not complaining about it because I’ll always prefer a drizzle over a snowstorm. I’m just making note! I’m very glad that I double checked the weather before I walked out the door. I packed my waterproof jacket. I use it for the wintery weather, but I don’t have any other raincoat to wear.
Riding a bike in the rain isn’t fun, but better than dealing with an icy expedition. I’ll be dripping wet when I get home, but I’ll just have to take a nice hot shower once I remove the wet overalls. Who doesn’t love a wet fairy?
One fun piece of information is that the partitions in the bathrooms have been repainted. They really needed a fresh coat of paint. Especially the girls’ bathrooms in my area. These little brats have been defacing the black partitions all year. I’ve tried to curtail the graffiti with spray paint and even hand scrubbing the profanity away. Well, as of today these spaces have a fresh spread of black matte paint that completely hides the ridiculousness that the youths had scratched into the semi-permanent walls.
Day One Hundred & Forty-six: 4/28/2023
The elevator is a point of contention. To use the system, you must know the code. Well, we try to keep the code secret. Confidential. Because the kids always mess up the areas they have access to. There’s also an issue when they have access to a closed door. Always, someone is doing something that they shouldn’t be doing. Smoking most likely. I know I talk so much about the negative aspects of the school, but I generally deal with the aftermath, which is NEVER clean.
I did see something super special today. I thought I was witnessing hoodlums behaving badly, but as I approached I saw something different. I thought these two students were up to no good, and I was utterly wrong. They took the hallway’s trash can to the enclave under the stairs. They took it upon themselves to clean up the space. Some other students had made a mess and I wasn't going to clean it up.
You see it is out of my scope to pick up after the hoodlums constantly. I maintain the space, but I’m not the maid. I discard the trash when it is either on the floor or in the trash receptacles. So, when I saw these two students cleaning up after their colleagues, I was pleasantly surprised.
It was a long four days, but I’m glad I witnessed reputable hospitality.
