Vacation, holiday break, and back again!

Day Seventy-Two: 12/19/2022

No one in the school, no reason to even work hard. Besides, today is the day before my vacation. It has been years since I’ve had a paid vacation. I’ve been working odd jobs for the last five years as I pursue my writing aspirations. So, if I wanted time off, I could have it but it wasn’t paid. I’ve also had one of the worst years of my life, so to end the year away from work, while being paid is quite fortuitous.

Day Seventy-Three: 1/3/2023

So I wouldn’t say that I was thrilled to be back in the school. I enjoyed my paid time off, the holiday time off, and even when I was stranded due to airline incompetence. Yes, I was one of the many that got screwed over my Southwest Airlines. I was supposed to be back at work by the 27th, but I couldn't even get a flight back into Denver until the 29th. Then, I was still off work because of the holiday. I inadvertently had two weeks off, paid! However, it was nice to have a day to examine my area before the school is back up in running.

I also appreciate each Teal Day, apparently the school categorizes teacher work days as Teal Days. Even though I participate in Teal Day everyday. I'm quite curious exactly what the teachers and faculty do on Teal Day. I'll have to ask another sometime.

Day Seventy-Four: 1/4/2023

They’re back!

They came back with a little vengeance. It wasn’t the worst I’ve seen, but I certainly enjoyed it when there wasn't anyone in the building. Ha! I know how crazy that sounds, but it’s my truth. I really enjoy the whole cleaning process when I know no one will be messing it up behind me. Unfortunately, that’s not how it works.

I do have a question. Why? Why must they leave such messes in some classes? I mean, I have a whole theory but I’d like to hear from their little pubescent mouths. Why they leave certain types of messes in some rooms and some rooms they are left respectable.

Is there some sort of confusion of where the trash is supposed to go? Is there some sort of discord with the room that you’re in? Is it the instructor? Is it me? Why?

Again, it isn’t every room that’s the reason why I’m confused in the first place. I just want some guidance. If only a thirteen or fourteen year old could explain these things to me, I’d be so utterly grateful.

Day Seventy-Five: 1/5/2023

When one is lacking motivation and the emotional strength to perform menial tasks, do they get done? Why yes, yes they do. I don’t have any joy. The personal struggles of my personal life lingered through the dust that I’m required to clean up. I’m fine, I really am, but today was slightly the exception. If I don’t have any complaints, then I was somewhat successful for the day.

I don’t really have any complaints about anyone else. The hallways, classrooms, bathrooms, and even the library wasn’t too bad. Fortunately for me, I didn’t have the stamina to deal with any ridiculous shenanigans. Nope, had zero tolerance for the first week back. I need this job to pay the bills, but I don’t need to feel underappreciated by a gaggle of gigantic gobstoppers also known as young adults.

Day Seventy-Six: 1/6/2023

The week has ended splendidly quiet, and I felt beautiful today. I enjoy letting The Teal Fairy flutter around the school, and I'm so glad I put myself together. The school wanted to feature the custodial staff for an upcoming newsletter. Fortunately, I like to go big on Fridays.
